COMMUNITIES THRIVE WHEN WE COME TOGETHER
Our conservation strategies are designed to enrich the lives of those in our communities for better health and peace of mind.
HERE IS WHAT PROTECTED NATURAL LANDS CAN OFFER OUR COMMUNITIES:
PROMOTION OF OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES AND RECREATION
Access to natural areas promotes physical and mental well-being among individuals and communities. Conserved lands provide opportunities for outdoor recreation, including hiking, camping, ephemeral art, birdwatching, kayaking, foraging and nature photography. These activities not only improve health and quality of life but also foster a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
Engaging in environmentally friendly recreation activities not only promotes personal well-being but also reduces harm to the environment by offering entertainment options that minimize energy consumption and the use of consumable products.
Raw Earth Foundation encourages eco-friendly recreational activities by hosting events and gatherings centered around these sorts of activities to help communities form a deeper connection with nature so that we, and future generations all can benefit from its magic, beauty and nourishment.
COMMUNITY RESILIENCE AND SOCIAL EQUITY
Conserved lands help build resilient communities by reducing the risks of natural disasters such as floods, wildfires, and erosion. They also promote social equity by ensuring that all individuals, regardless of background or income, have access to green spaces and natural resources. Parks, trails, and community gardens provide safe and accessible spaces where people can gather, exercise, and socialize with friends and neighbors. However, in many urban areas they are not easily accessible. By investing in land conservation and reforestation we promote social justice and create healthier, more equitable communities.
PROTECTION OF NATURAL RESOURCES
The greatest reward from our conservation endeavors lies in the sustenance it provides to individuals and communities. We believe people should all have access to clean air, food and water. There is a plethora of medicinal and edible plants amongst our forests. Many with properties still yet to be discovered and all growing without the use of chemicals or fertilization. Learning how to use and consume these natural resources, can positively impact the lives of many. Further, traditional diets rooted in local biodiversity not only nourish the body but also foster cultural identity and culinary heritage.
It is already well-known trees play a vital role in the carbon cycle converting CO2 into oxygen which humans rely immensely on for survival. In addition, Tress act as natural filters, absorbing pollutants from the air, trapping sediment and minimizing the runoff of fertilizers and other chemicals reducing contamination that would otherwise affect water quality and commonly do in over developed areas. By preserving wooded areas, we are ensuring the air quality remains intact and runoff to nearby waterways is mitigated resulting in cleaner water and air.
ECONOMIC BENEFITS
Land conservation contributes to local economies by supporting industries such as tourism, agriculture, and outdoor recreation. Protected natural areas attract visitors, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth in nearby communities. Additionally, conserved lands enhance property values, attract investment, and provide opportunities for sustainable development.
Protected land and lush vegetation enhance the natural beauty of an area and also contribute significantly to improving property values, attracting residents, ultimately strengthening local economies.
