Roots for Tomorrow
A noble cause
At Raw Earth Foundation, we believe in the power of trees to transform lives, restore ecosystems, and build sustainable futures. The Roots for Tomorrow Program is our flagship initiative, dedicated to planting native fruit-bearing and endangered trees across North America. By prioritizing these types of trees, we aim to bolster biodiversity, combat habitat loss, and address food insecurity in underserved communities.
Program Mission

Restore ecosystems
By planting native species vital to local wildlife.

Improve Food Security
Through the introduction of fruit bearing trees that provide accessible, nutritious food.

Preserve Endangered Trees
To protect north America's natural heritage and prevent species extinction.
Endangered Trees of North America
As part of our mission, we prioritize planting endangered trees that are native to North America. These species are vital to the balance of our ecosystems and require immediate attention to ensure their survival. Some of the endangered trees we focus on include:
- American Chestnut (Castanea dentata)
- Florida Torreya (Torreya taxifolia)
- Longleaf Pine (Pinus palustris)
- Kentucky Coffee Tree (Gymnocladus dioicus)
- Fraser Fir (Abies fraseri)
- Bigleaf Magnolia (Magnolia macrophylla)
Native Fruit Bearing Trees
Native fruit-bearing trees provide critical food sources for humans and wildlife while contributing to the health of ecosystems. These are some of the native fruit-bearing trees we prioritize:
- American Persimmon (Diospyros virginiana)
- Pawpaw (Asimina triloba)
- Black Cherry (Prunus serotina)
- Crabapple (Malus coronaria)
- Elderberry (Sambucus canadensis)
- Serviceberry (Amelanchier spp.)
Ensuring Fair Access to Green Spaces
We Prioritize Equity and Impact
We recognize the importance of equitable access to trees and green spaces. That’s why the Roots for Tomorrow Program prioritizes donating trees to:
- Nonprofit organizations working in environmental and community development.
- Churches and food banks, where fruit-bearing trees can directly support community needs.
- Low-income neighborhoods, where tree planting can enhance green spaces, provide food resources, and improve overall quality of life.
